“I've been making teapot cosies for over 6 years. Around 4 years ago I was selling my works in a local craft shop and I got an order to make Michael Tea. I was not the first person to create it, but I made it in my own special way. Since then my Michael Tea Higgins Tea pot cosy design has changed numerous times. For example, the President’s cosies tie has changed many times and it’s nice to make cosies with a lot of different colours. One day a customer suggested that the Michael Tea tie should be red, because of the political party he belonged to before the election as the President of Ireland.
You may be wondering why we also have the Michael Higgins cosy in a navy suit as well. It’s because navy is the President's usual outdoor suit for special events. In the beginning the Michael T cozy had no glasses. Only after the “The Late Late Toy Show” in 2017, where our Michael Tea was featured at the start, where it was presented with the book “The Presidents Glasses” by Peter Donnelly. That gave birth to the idea to create glasses for our Michael D Higgins tea cozy.” - JK (Owner of Timeless)
The teapot cosy uses wool which contains 60% wool, so it allows the tea cosy to keep your tea warm for a long time. The knitted tea cosy can stretch enough, so it fits most tea pot sizes and shapes. A small tea cosy (fits a 2 cups teapot) is available in our shop, too.
